Mining Pipeline Systems
Modern mining operations depend heavily on large-scale pipeline infrastructure for water management, slurry transport, and chemical handling. Reinforced thermoplastic pipe (RTP) systems provide a corrosion-free alternative to steel pipelines while enabling faster installation and lower lifecycle maintenance in aggressive mining environments. Across open-pit, underground, and processing facilities, mining pipelines are used to move slurry, process water, tailings, leach solutions, and chemicals throughout the operation. These systems must operate reliably in highly abrasive conditions while handling aggressive chemicals and large pressure variations. Flexible RTP pipelines are particularly well suited for mining operations because long continuous pipe lengths allow rapid installation across large mine sites while minimizing welding, heavy lifting equipment, and field connections.
Deep Pit Dewatering Systems
One of the most demanding challenges in mining operations is removing groundwater from deep pits and underground workings. Flexible RTP pipelines can be installed in long continuous vertical lengths, allowing pipe strings to be suspended from the pit surface and lowered directly into the mine.
This installation method allows operators to pump water from the bottom of deep pits or shafts under high pressure while maintaining a simple and reliable pipeline system. Long continuous pipe lengths reduce connection points and eliminate corrosion risks commonly associated with steel dewatering lines.
These systems are commonly used for:
Deep pit groundwater removal
Underground shaft dewatering
Emergency flood recovery
High-pressure vertical pumping systems
Slurry and Tailings Transport
Mining processes generate large volumes of slurry — a mixture of water and finely crushed ore particles that must be transported from processing plants to tailings storage facilities. Slurry pipelines are widely used across the mining industry because they allow continuous transport of waste material without the need for truck haulage. RTP pipeline systems are well suited for slurry service due to their corrosion resistance, abrasion tolerance, and ability to operate under continuous pumping conditions.
Typical applications include:
Tailings transport pipelines
High-density slurry pipelines
Process slurry return lines
Thickened tailings systems
Heap Leach and Chemical Transport Systems
Many mining operations rely on heap leaching to recover valuable minerals such as gold, copper, and uranium. In these systems, chemical solutions are distributed across large leach pads and collected through drainage networks. Pipeline systems used in heap leach operations must be resistant to aggressive chemicals including acidic and alkaline solutions. Thermoplastic pipeline systems are commonly selected for these applications due to their excellent chemical resistance and long service life.
Typical applications include:
Heap leach solution distribution
Pregnant solution collection pipelines
Reagent and chemical transfer lines
Acid mine drainage (AMD) collection systems
Process Water and Mine Infrastructure
Water management is critical throughout the life cycle of a mining operation. Pipeline networks transport process water between crushers, concentrators, tailings facilities, and water storage systems.
Typical pipeline systems include:
Process water distribution
Dust suppression systems
Mine drainage networks
Tailings pond return water systems
Groundwater control pipelines
